Is range work or actual golf better for a determined brand new female golfer?
My friend is on her golf team and she has never played golf before. She's very determined and wants to maximize her practice effort as much as possible. Her first match was last Thursday and she feels out of place since she shot 77 in her first match while her opponent shot 38 in a 9 hole match.(We are a new highschool so we only had enough girls for 1 full team)
i just read the 77 and thought thats are pro, but then the let down of 9 holes. 77 is a little high. i would suggest starting at the putting green learn to putt up down side putts.
1. make lots of 4 to 5 ft ones. practice 10 20 yds and off the green with a putter.
2. chip with putter, wedges, 789 irons, then 5iron from different distances and surfaces.
3. chip lob 30, 40, 50 til 100yds.
so first learn your game around the green. most beginners whack putt back a forth. learn your distances because when you aim you will go kinda towards the hole. too long or short will kill your score.
