Very Nice Look, Withstands Chicago Winds, But Release Is Poorly Constructed

4.0 / 5.0

I purchased this umbrella years ago, and have used it in extremely windy conditions with no problems. The sole issue is the release is a piece of metal that sits snuggly in the nice wooden pole. As you may expect, over time this metal will work its way out because use will widen the gap in the wooden pole. After that, you're better of sending it in for repairs.

Try the Pro-Series

5.0 / 5.0

Dear Amazonians,

I read the reviews of the Doorman umbrella, by GustBuster, and have some advice to add! While I have not purchased the Doorman model myself, I have purchased two of the Pro-Series umbrellas, and am very impressed by their quality. I am disappointed to read that the Doorman model is not of the highest quality, but would recommend the Pro-Series. The price difference is negligible, and the quality is superior to that of any other brand. This umbrella really is windproof! When I am outside in the wind and rain, I look at other people and see them flapping and flying around like Mary Poppins, but I am still happy and dry with my GustBuster! I am a satisfied customer!

Adieu,

--Daniel

super durable in crazy mit windtunnels

5.0 / 5.0

This umbrella is so lovely! I love how gigantic it is, it perfectly fits myself, my boyfriend, and our backpacks. (No more wet books!) The wind here at MIT is extremely intense, and this umbrella handles it no problem. I haven't had any issues with opening or closing it, and it is easy enough to carry to work or wherever. Not too heavy, but not exactly uber-portable.

Best Umbrella Ever -- But It's Big

5.0 / 5.0

This is a wonderful umbrella. It easily covers two people (or myself and two grandchildren) however I do not recommend using it on a crowded walk. Standard umbrellas "bump" in crowds and this one is a real hog. But if other umbrella-carriers are not an issue, this one is a treasure.

Rotten Handle

1.0 / 5.0

On our first walk down the street, the handle started to buckle and peel, in big chunks (before any rain hit it)! It's faux wood looking and now there are big white chunks on the bottom, and it still hasn't actually rained. I emailed Amazon and the particular retailer a week ago, and haven't heard anything back yet! :(

Time to Look for Pro-V1 Deals?

With Acushnet, the owner of the Titelist line currently losing its battle with Callaway there could be a glut of Pro-V1s on the market that have to be moved before the end of the year.  It is claimed that the Pro-V1 has been altered to be outside the scope of the patents.  And they will introduce a new Pro-V1 model for next year (subject of the recent "beta-test" disqualification).  Acushnet is pushing this battle up the hill with an appeal to the Federal Appeals Court.  If this appeal doesn't
