Ping Explorer
Final Fantasy's peculiar mechanisms
After years of waiting, we finally got a new Final Fantasy games, and even if it gets varying reviews around is our own Qystein Furevik overwhelmingly enthusiastic about it. Like so many times before Square Enix has removed some old systems, and kept and experimented with others. This has been a tradition in the series since the first sequel to 1980's, and stands in stark contrast to the far more conventional genre trap and rival Dragon Quest.
To celebrate the recent release, we will now look at some of these experiments. We will not cover all the titles here, but will look at four different systems (with variations) that Square tried on earlier releases. We jump, among other things over the first game, which has a fairly standard system with experience points and ranges. The three or four editions of the combat system and how linear games are to be interesting topics, but here we will focus on how to develop games characters.
It's from Final Fantasy II and beyond the Square is getting experimental on this front. The fact that these experiments is not always successful is Final Fantasy II in general a good example.
Final Fantasy II: The harassment is the key to success
Some role-playing game has tried to replace the ancient system of experience points and level with more organic solvents, where the way you play affects how your character develops. For example, using swords often are you better to turn it increases the ffxiv gil strength points of the figure. Final Fantasy II is one of the first games that tried such a system, with anything but successful results.
You will be given three almost identical warriors and are free to shape their properties as desired. You can teach them magic, give them different types of equipment and weapons and then go into battle with them. Use one of those magic increases not only their magical abilities, but they are also physically weaker. The idea was that you had to choose roles for each of the characters and train them accordingly, but the system works quite simply not.
The problem is mainly that it takes too long to increase the properties they have a noticeable effect. The fastest way to become stronger in Final Fantasy II is to find a bunch of ping exploration enemies that do not pose any threat to your group, and let your own people gyve loose on each other to build up. The enemy will just stand and watch as your warrior banks loose on the magician that this will get better defense and more health points. To get a decent increase in use for several hours and repeat the process several times during the game. It does not help either that the balance is completely on the face. Frequently monsters in the game's mazes are often more dangerous than the boss you meet at the end.

There's a built-on Ping program in all windows PCs called ping.exe, maybe this is causing your problem. Open a command window and type "ping localhost". if that works, then it's not your problem.
