Multi-materials made Ping Anser Forged irons
It looks like the revealing of the new Ping Anser Forged irons has cause a bit stir in the golfing world and on lot of golf enthusiast sites around the internet. After posting about the new iron last Friday, we decided to head back to the Japan Golf Fair on Saturday and Sunday and got to take more pictures of the Anser Forged, talk to Ping Japan about it and give it a whirl in the hitting bays.
The forged, multi-metal design, of the Anser Forged Irons combines an 8620 steel body, a dense tungsten sole, and machined grooves for unequaled forged-iron feel and forgiveness. Its hollow-sole cavity softens feel and positions the CG for higher-launching shots. The progressive set design offers long-iron forgiveness and short-iron control.
The Ping Anser Forged irons represents the very best of Ping's commitment to design and technology. Built to appeal to all golfers, and already in use of the PGA Tour, the Ping Anser Forged a forged, and cavity back iron made from multi-materials.
The Anser carries the same name as one of the early models Karsten Solheim produced before he transitioned to the popular investment casting process. The newest version pushes the forging process to create performance benefits not previously associated with a forged club.
Sharing a similar address appearance with the Ping i15, the Anser Forged golf iron offers skilled, low handicappers the high performance quality they demand from Ping without excluding higher handicappers who want the reassurance of playing with a premium club. The minimal offset and thin top line will please better players but the all round playability make the Ping Anser Forged a club to be cherished by all golfers.
Forged Multi-Metal Design: Combining an 8620 steel body with a dense tungsten sole, the Anser offers unequaled forged-iron performance.
Hollow-Sole Cavity: A hollow-sole cavity enhances the Anser's soft feel and pushes the CG low and back for higher-launching iron shots.
Physically the Anser Forged is smaller than the Rapture and Rapture V2 which had a much wider sole and slightly thicker top line. It is more along the lines of the i15 in both size and shape. Ping has noted that the Anser Forged Iron uses progressive offset going from more to less as the irons get shorter. This creates more ease of use in the long irons, allowing the player to square the club face easier. The offset shrinks as the irons get shorter to focus on control and touch. This ease of use concept mixes automatic/point and shoots long irons made for distance with workable short irons to attack the pin.

Suggestions on Putters?
I have been alternating between a ping anser 2 and a Odyssey white hot #1.
I like the feel of the Odyssey's softness.
I like the feel of the Ping anser.
I dont like the weighted feel of the Odyssey head. I am looking for something that combines the best of both.
Any suggestions?
Last spring, I went through the same thing you are today.......My answer was the Scotty Cameron. It gave me the feel I wanted without the weighty head. I have owned Scotty's since practically the first year He came out with his putters. so I suppose it was a no brainer for me.
