Will a hybrid club replace hard- to-hit fairway woods or are they only replacements for irons?
I'm thinking about having in the bag 4,6-10 irons and a 3 and 5 hybrid. No fairway woods and a driver and putter will that work?
Not sure why you would skip the 4h and go with a 4-iron?
I like the hybrids to replace the 3 & 4 irons. I also have a 2h to replace my 5-Wood but I still carry the 3W for certain tee shots. That kind of a set configuration would be my recommendation for you.
That being said to answer your question, I do think that hybrids will replace fairway woods for most of us. Why? Because fairway woods are indeed harder to hit correctly.
Hybrids are easier to hit because they are shorter and have a head that is similar to a wood, hence a larger sweet spot than the comparable iron.
