How do European countries (with huge vacations & flex time) stay okay, yet our American jobs get outsourced?
In places like Norway, Sweden, France, etc., those countries' companies give their employees generous vacations, paid maternity leave, benefits, a workweek far shorter than ours.
And these countries' productivity per worker is comparable to ours, too:

So why do we Americans continually get shafted? Why do our jobs and benefits keep disappearing?
Whereas in Europe, they didn't exactly turn into Third World countries with all their benefits.
What's going on?
So... knowing nothing about employment law in the countries you mentioned, I just decided to read (picked randomly) a couple of articles about the employment laws in Norway.
I now have insight into why every person I have ever met from Norway has seemingly been in strong contention for the "Biggest Moron on the Face of the Planet" award.
I don't think we'd want laws like that. Do you want the whole country run like a union? Because that's what it would be like and union people annoy the heck out of those of us with half a brain and any kind of a work ethic.
